they're written on. How many times can we read bland clichés like “if you don't plan ahead, your project will fail?” Of course, we all recognize the importance of strategic planning. But how do we really determine a successful project approach from an unsuccessful one? With this edition of SAPtips, we're delighted to present a brilliant article on SAP® Project Management that digs deep into SAP and goes well beyond the standard pretty-sounding advice. Why does this article work? We think it's because the author, Tomas Fertig, has worked his way up from hands-on SAP consultant to Practice Manager. Tomas has tasted project successes and failures firsthand, and his passion for SAP keeps him on top of the latest technologies. This twenty-page guide is filled with sharp insights on the best ways to approach SAP projects and the missteps to avoid. Tomas covers everything from the importance of business model definition to the need for a thoughtful approach to cultural change

ATLANTA (MMD Newswire) November 10, 2011 -- Rajesh Mendonca and Janet Mascarenhas share their industry experience and firsthand knowledge of SAP's latest SCM-EWM warehouse management modules in "Fundamentals of SCM-EWM: A Step By Step Guide" (ISBN 0983921105). They break down this complex module in hopes of making the workload easier for consultants and customers who are in the process of implementing a warehouse management solution. Through this book, SAP customers will be able to get a good look at the different solutions available in SAP to manage their inventory, make informed decisions and select the right solutions for their warehouse needs. The unique aspect is that this book will help beginning and experienced consultants master and configure the EWM systems on their own. What is the Material Master Record? The material master record contains all information about the materials a company procures, manufactures, stores and ships. The data stored in the material master is not only used by Warehouse Management (WM), but also by other application components, such as Inventory Management (IM), Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM) and Shipping (SD-SHP). The integration of all information about a material into a single record eliminates redundancy and makes it possible to store material data for all relevant system components in a single database. This guide describes master data only from the viewpoint of WM. For detailed information about material master data, as well as instructions for creating, changing, or displaying material master records, refer to the MM - Managing Material Master Data documentation. sap steps in workflow

Steps in a Workflow (MM-PUR-REQ) If the release code with which the complete purchase requisition or the requisition item is to be processed according to the release strategy is workflow-relevant, a workflow is started and a release work item generated. If a user whom workflow control identifies as being responsible for this release code logs on to the system, this user will see this work item in his or her SAP Business Workplace inbox. If, for example, a job is assigned to the release code as a processor ID and several users are allowed to work with this release code, all of these users will see the same work item in their inboxes. An individual workflow is started for each workflow-relevant code. The steps in a workflow are as follows: Workflow started Release step generated XXOORR Release step generated XXOORR PReq significantly changed Release effected Release refused Confirmation of refusal Confirmation of release Confirmatory message sent Confirmat

sap substitution

Image
What Are Substitutions?   Substitution rules are stored in the Rule Manager. When data is entered in the system, it is substituted by the Integration Manager. Substitution occurs before the data is added to the FI-SL summary tables. In FI-SL substitution, the values entered into the SAP system are validated against a prerequisite defined by the user. When the prerequisite is met, the system replaces the values entered with substitute values, and the substitute values are transferred into the FI-SL application component. The system first performs validation and then substitution. This gives you the opportunity of having the system validate values that are to be substituted. A substitution process can contain up to 999 steps. Before posting, therefore, you can substitute the values using any number of Boolean statements. A substitution step contains the following statements: ●      Prerequisite statement The prerequisite statement establishes which conditions must be fulfilled bef

WELCOME TO SAPFANS FROM START-UP SOFTWARE VENDOR TO GLOBAL MARKET LEADER Over the course of three decades, SAP has evolved from a small, regional enterprise into a world-class international company. Today, SAP is the global market leader in collaborative, inter-enterprise business solutions. The company now employs more than 39,300 people, whose commitment and innovative spirit pace our future success.  The 1970s: A Real-Time Vision In 1972, five former IBM employees — Dietmar Hopp, Hans-Werner Hector, Hasso Plattner, Klaus Tschira, and Claus Wellenreuther — launch a company called Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing in Mannheim, Germany. Their vision: to develop standard application software for real-time business processing. One year later, the first financial accounting software is complete, forming the basis for the continuous development of other software components in what later came to be known as the “R/1 system.” “R
